Today is #NationalEntrepreneurDay. If you’re an entrepreneur yourself, take this day to reflect on your own journey. Celebrate your wins, big or small, and think about the lessons you’ve learned along the way. This is a great time to reconnect with your passion and remind yourself why you started your business in the first place.
My Entrepreneurship Journey to Healthcare Call Center
I never imagined that I would one day be an entrepreneur. It wasn't something I considered in my career planning. I have been running my own business for 12 years and can't imagine returning. I am humbled to help improve access by optimizing the healthcare scheduling call center. I focus on streamlining pre- and post-scheduling activities like registration and bill payment. My passion lies in training design and implementation to ensure the learning sticks. I am making a difference in my own way, but it doesn't come without struggles—challenges, thoughts, etc. Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart.
Why Entrepreneurs Matter, Don't Give Up
Entrepreneurs do more than just create businesses; they act as catalysts for change. Here are a few reasons why they matter so much:
1. Job Creation and Economic Growth: Entrepreneurs are the backbone of any economy. By starting new businesses, they create jobs and contribute to the economic fabric of their communities. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMBs) often account for the majority of job creation worldwide.
2. Innovation and Problem-Solving: Entrepreneurs are often driven by the desire to solve problems. The solutions they come up with frequently transform entire industries and improve the lives of countless people.
3. Societal Impact: Entrepreneurs often go beyond financial success—they aspire to make a difference.
The Challenges Entrepreneurs Face
While entrepreneurship offers exciting opportunities, it also comes with its own set of challenges. These can range from financial hurdles and market competition to regulatory barriers and the constant pressure to innovate. Some of the most common challenges entrepreneurs face include:
Funding and Cash Flow: Even the best ideas can stall without adequate financial resources.
Scaling and Growth: Entrepreneurs must balance expansion with maintaining quality, customer service, and operational efficiency.
Uncertainty and Risk: Entrepreneurs face numerous uncertainties, including shifting consumer demands, changing regulations, and unexpected global events. Navigating this uncertainty requires agility and foresight.
How I am Changing This Year Beyond Healthcare Call Centers
For the first time in my entrepreneurial journey, I am collaborating and creating a new program to improve patient outcomes through more compassionate and efficient scheduling. Scheduling with Care sets a new benchmark for healthcare scheduling with a comprehensive suite of best practices and tailored e-learning modules that equip scheduling agents with the skills to handle the unique challenges of healthcare environments. I have partnered with VereQuest, a leading provider of quality assurance solutions for contact centers to train and enhance call center scheduling. Taking risks, scaling and growth are all a part of the journey and this is where I am headed in 2025. To all the entrepreneurs—past, present, and future—thank you for your vision and hard work. You are shaping the future and inspiring the next generation to dream big, take risks, and make a lasting impact.” The only way to do great work is to love what you do.” – Steve Jobs
